Capcom once again proves it’s cracked the code as the Monster Hunter publisher celebrates its eighth consecutive record year

Capcom has come forward with some great news, declaring proudly that it has once again broken records for both sales and profit for its eigth consecutive year. This comes via a quarterly financial report released this morning.

The report goes on to state that the release of Monster Hunter Wilds played a significant part in this stellar performance. It states: “As a result of both satisfying the strong expectations of fans and successful measures to build awareness through various events and other activities, worldwide sales surpassed 10 million units, which contributed to earnings”.

In addition, the report claims that excitement for Wilds pushed sales for prior titles in the series upward too, with games like Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Monster Hunter Rise seeing respectable bumps in sales. Overall, the report highlights that the series has sold over 100 million units worldwide.

In terms of the pure numbers and the picture they paint, the financial report explains that this quarter Capcom made 169.6 billion Yen ($1.14 billion / £870 million ) in net sales, which translates to a roughly 11.3% increase from this time last year. In addition, operating income has increased by 15.2%, which isn’t too shabby at all.

It’s hard to knock Capcom at the moment, across many (if any) of its franchises. The company’s determined strategy to make the most out of legacy IPs it owns appears to be paying dividends, and has certainly helped establish the Japanese publisher as one of the big winners of the past few years. We’ll have to sit back and see how long it can keep this streak going!
