Tired of Tekken 8? Virtua Fighter 5 Revo is coming to consoles, while sexy Ganondorf just got revealed for Virtua Fighter 6

It was a big weekend for Virtua Fighter fans, as two massive bits of news dropped. The first, that Virtua Fighter 5 Revo will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 with crossplay support and delicious rollback netcode. The second, that Wolf Hawkfield (aka sexy Ganondorf) has been officially revealed for the upcoming Virtua Fighter 6.

Virtua Fighter 5 Revo, first released on PC in January this year, was a modern re-release of Virtua Fighter 5 with technical improvements to better facilitate worldwide online play. It performed pretty darn well for a near-20-year-old fighting game, though obviously didn’t quite hit the heights of a full cross-platform release. This announcement of a wider rollout should hopefully remedy that for a very good fighter.

Now, Wolf Hawkfield’s reveal is something totally new. His reveal trailer, released during a Virtua Fighter Direct on Sunday, shows off a new design for the Canadian professional wrestler. He’s been a featured character in every Virtua Fighter game, and looks far more rugged than previous iterations.

What’s interesting is that, according to producer Riichio Yamada during the Virtua Fighter Direct, Virtua Fighter 6 will delve more into the story and motivations of each character, so we should find out why Mr Hawkfield looks the way he does. He also adds that legacy characters like Wolf Hawkfield have been “refined for the modern age”, so we should expect similarly drastic makeovers for any future returning characters.
