That’s a lot of Claptrap: Take-Two reveals the Borderlands franchise has sold nearly 93 million copies ahead of Borderlands 4 blowout later this year
Take Two has recently released its 2025 investor presentation, and as you can imagine it’s filled with all manner of interesting details about the publisher’s suite of games. For Borderlands fans, it contains some intriguing sales info, including the eye-watering fact that the Borderlands series has sold nearly 93 million copies in total.
This data, found on page 16 of the 2025 investor presentation, comes as stats that’re part of a slide dedicated to the 2K portfolio of games. Borderlands is featured prominently as you’d expect, alongside points stating that Borderlands 3 is 2Ks fastest selling title, having sold over 22 million units to date.
Then, of course, there’s Borderlands 2, which is 2K’s top selling title ever with over 30 million units sold. There’s also a box dedicated to Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. This box doesn’t feature any sales figures (which itself says something), but it does feature an interesting snippet that 40% of the game’s audience has been folks new to the Borderlands series. So that’s good!
So the bar has been set pretty high for Borderlands 4! It’s certainly made a great first impression with its dedicated State of Play, taking a more serious tone and featuring drastic gameplay changes. It’s also had its release date moved forward to September 12, and with GTA 6 having been pushed back to 2026 it looks to have a pretty clean slate to eat up all the interest in its window.
How many copies do you think Borderlands 4 will end up shifting? Give us your best guess down below!
