Bethesda drops a Starfield update with no DLC news, unless you count a whole new faction from the folks behind Fallout 4’s Sim Settlements arriving this month

While most Bethesda-heads are still taking in the sights and sounds of revamped Cyrodiil thanks to Oblivion Remastered, the studio’s just reminded us all that it hasn’t forgotten about Starfield. There’s a fresh update for the huge space thing game, but it hasn’t brought any news of fresh DLC, unless an upcoming Creation Club add-on from some very talented modders ticks that box for you.

I know, I know, odds are the mere mention of the ever-controversial CC stuff has you starting to draft a comment outlining how paid mods are either brilliant or the spawn of Satan himself. This one looks like it could be hefty and interesting enough to be worth not dismissing out of hand, though.

Putting that aside for a moment, this fresh Starfield patch, 1.15.214, arrived in Steam Beta form late yesterday. As outlined in the patch notes, it’s nothing flashy, bringing “additional support for Creations as well as numerous fixes for Quests, vehicles, UI and the Shattered Space DLC”.

That’s the only mention of DLC by the way, so you’re out of luck if you’re one of the Starfield stans holding out for BGS to deliver on its promise from March that it has “a lot of exciting things planned for the game this year”. That is, unless you count a Creation Club add-on that’s set to drop on May 20.

It’s called Watchtower, and is from the Kinggath Creations team – that’s the group of modders behind Fallout 4’s uber-popular Sim Settlements series. They’ve just announced this latest Creation Club project with a trailer that you can watch above.

“A new faction has emerged from the shadows to protect humanity from potential threats with excessive power – and they’ve identified you as their latest target,” reads the Creation’s description. “Join forces with a fellow adventurer hunted by Watchtower, befriend their contacts and work together to pilfer Watchtower’s technology and turn it against them.”

Looks pretty interesting to me, maybe a bit Brotherhood of Steel Outcasts-esque given that hoarding killer tech away from the masses looks to be the main calling card of this faction, whom it certainly sounds like you’ll be fighting against to start off with.

As I alluded to earlier, your thoughts on it may well be dictated by how you feel about Creations as a whole, and that’s totally cool. They might be some people’s cup of tea, but they certainly aren’t full official DLC.
