Oblivion Remastered’s version of Skyrim’s essential Unofficial Patch mod has arrived in uber-quick fashion, but it currently only looks to fix OG Oblivion bugs
It was inevitable that Oblivion Remastered would get some kind of big fan-made patch mod, and it’s only taken just a week for that prophecy to come true. Enter the Unofficial Oblivion Remastered Patch – UORP for short – which is out now, but looks to come with some quirks you’ll want to be aware of before you grab it.
First of all, the basics. UORP is a project that’s aiming to serve as a “comprehensive bug fixing mod” for the remaster, with the goal of “eventually fix every bug with Oblivion Remastered and its DLCs not officially resolved by the developers to the limits of the Creation Kit and community-developed tools”. It’s been created by a small team headed by modder Arthmoor, whom you might remember from Skyrim and Fallout 4’s Unofficial Patches.
They write that the initial version of the Unofficial Oblivion Remastered Patch they’ve just released contains “hundreds of script, quest, NPC, object, item, dialogue and other bug fixes” put together by the team of themselves, Quarn, Kivan, and PrinceShroob.
There are two separate iterations aimed at the standard and deluxe editions of Oblivion Remastered, with version 0.411.140.0 or later of the game being supported – meaning you’ll need to update if you’re running an older version.
In a response to a comment on the mod Arthmoor has revealed that this current version of the mod only deals with bugs and issues that were present in the original Oblivion and have made their way across to the remaster, writing in response to a player asking if any new remaster bugs have been dealt with: “Not yet, because we don’t know what any of those are. You should post any you know of to our bug tracker and we’ll look into them.”

They added in another reply that the diffiences between OG Oblivion and the remaster modding-wise are “why this initial release has been limited to those records that are known to work and why it took this long to get the various things merged”, adding: “Still more to come as well since we need to go back and check all of the stuff in the Tamriel and SEWorld exterior cells since those were all left out due to the immense number of things to check.”
Another thing worth noting is that a number of players initially reported the Unofficial Patch itself having caused fresh problems for them once installed, with crashes to desktop when entering the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary, Vile Lair, and Morvayn’s Peacemakers. Though, Arthmoor has said that an update pushed live this morning UK time (on April 30) should fix that issue, as well as one with “three map markers which were causing string issues on the map”.
One other bug at least one player claims to have run into after installing the Unofficial Patch has seen Argonians’ tails rather awkwardly end up protruding from their pelvic areas rather than the usual place, so we’ll have to see if that one gets fixed too.
We’ll have to see if this Unofficial Patch for Oblivion Remastered becomes its go-to bug fix mod, of if it also gets a community patch project from a larger team like Starfield did, with Arthmoor and co not having been part of the latter.
